Gesneriad-Dicts of Western New York Gesneriads are a wonderful group of blooming, indoor plants; Gesneriad-Dicts is a very informal group dedicated to learning about and growing these plants. Some of the better know gesneriads include African Violets, Streptocarpus, Gloxinias, Columneas, and many, many others. We meet on the third Sunday of each month at different members homes. Each meeting has an informal program of general interest, a 'show and tell' where members can share a success with a new or interesting plant, or bring in a problem for which other members may help to find a solution. Everyone brings in lots of plants and cuttings to share, and we grow many varieties from seed obtained from the AGGS or GSI seed funds. Some members are active in the national societies and share with us their experiences at various conventions. Meetings are also an opportunity make arrnagements for day trips and ride sharing.
